When should you change your website design?
There is no single clear answer to this question. Industry experts estimate that a website should benefit from a design change about once every 1.5 to 3 years.
Three years in the digital world means a lot, both aesthetically and especially technically.
What was aesthetically attractive and interesting three years ago is probably not today and technically three years sounds even worse.
Not updating your site allows others to gain a competitive advantage over you in terms of web design techniques.
I started writing this article right in the middle of a webage.io website redesign.
We make major changes to webage.io every year.
The changes we are making at the moment are as follows:
- Page design changes;
- Changes to the graphics used on the website;
- Changes to the menus;
- Improving the user interface and user experience;
- Changing the CTA (Call to action) sections, according to the new promotional strategy;
- Development of the online forms section;
- Replacing some modules (plugins) with more powerful ones;
- Replacing modules (plugins) that no longer benefit from updates or technical support from the manufacturers.
How often you should change the design of your website depends on several factors, such as the purpose of the website, the target audience and the resources available.
In general, it is recommended that you update your site design regularly to maintain the current look and feel and to ensure that your site is optimised for current devices and browsers.
Changing your site design can also help you attract more visitors and keep their interest.
However, changing your website design can be an expensive and time-consuming process, so it’s important to set a frequency that fits your resources and goals.
It’s important to assess your needs and consider the advice of a web design specialist before deciding if and when to change your website design.
